, ‘the 11-v-11 routine that followed, on a shortened pitch, was essentially first-team players against under-21s (and Mateo Joseph’s presence in the senior group told a story about how the 19-year-old’s standing has changed recently).

His scoring record in Leeds’ youth teams is unparalleled, and has certainly caught Marsch’s attention.

He was then rewarded with a Premier League debut just before the World Cup break.

The 19-year-old came off the bench in the final moments with Leeds chasing a late equaliser against Tottenham.

It’s no surprise to see Joseph promoted to the senior squad at Leeds already.

At other clubs, a loan move away might be the best option for a player in Joseph’s position.

However, Marsch has not shied away from giving young players a chance if they’re performing well in training.

Joseph faces plenty of competition to be Leeds’s top attacking prospect.

If he can establish himself in the side, he could quickly become a fan favourite with his exciting style of play.
