Report: Javier Hernandez has halved wages to leave West Ham
Striker Javier Hernandez reportedly took a drastic pay cut in order to leave West Ham United.
The 31-year-old left the club on transfer deadline day after two seasons to join La Liga side Sevilla.
Hernandez was the last remaining striker at the club from last season, with Marko Arnautovic, Lucas Perez and Andy Carroll all leaving earlier in the summer.
Speculation had been rife about his future despite those departures, with Sebastien Haller arriving in a £45 million deal ().
The speculation has come to fruition and, perhaps surprisingly, Hernandez has taken a huge pay cut .
He was the highest earner at West Ham United on £140,000-a-week, but he will now take home a basic wage of £75,000-a-week at his new club.

Clearly then, it isn’t about the money for Hernandez.
Such a development suggests that the former Manchester United man was desperate to leave the club in search of regular football again.
In his two seasons at the London Stadium he struggled to impose himself, after many had tipped him to be a great signing.
He often played second fiddle to Arnautovic, and the arrival of Haller probably convinced him he’d only be spending more time on the bench.
