Report: Jamie Shackleton aware he’s likely done at Leeds

Jamie Shackleton is aware that he is likely done at Leeds United after leaving the club on loan in the summer, .

Shackleton has had an incredibly varied time in the first-team at Elland Road. He got his chance in the very early stages of Marcelo Bielsa’s tenure.

The 22-year-old had come through the ranks as a midfielder. However, Bielsa used him predominantly as a right-back, providing cover for Luke Ayling.

And it seemed to be an inspired call. No-one in the Leeds squad seemed to complete the lung-busting runs needed to shine under Bielsa with more ease than Shackleton.

However, that moment when he needed to kick on and cement his spot in the side never quite came. And the signs seemed ominous when he really struggled for game-time last season. In fact, he only featured in one league game under Jesse Marsch.

No matter what the future held for Shackleton, a loan move seemed necessary this summer. And with that, fans may have been reserving judgement on what his long-term prospects were like at Leeds following his switch to Millwall.

However, it does seem unlikely that he will play for the club again. that Millwall do have an option to buy Shackleton. And the youngster is aware that he is almost done at Leeds.

Shackleton likely done at Leeds

It is a real shame that Shackleton’s future looks set to lie elsewhere. He has been a fan favourite throughout his time in the first-team.

It is probably fair to say that he was only one piece of luck away from getting a proper chance to cement his spot in the side. . Meanwhile, Adam Forshaw said that he was ‘fantastic’.

Ultimately, his versatility potentially counted against him. And he would have possibly been a huge player for the side had promotion come one year later.

Shackleton has the talent and the attitude to get back to the highest level. Unfortunately, the time just simply does not appear to be right for the youngster to manage it with Leeds.
