Report: Ivan Perisic wants to take ‘perfect’ Tottenham player’s shirt number next season
Ivan Perisic is holding out before deciding which shirt number he will wear for Tottenham Hotspur next season, as per .
They report that the Croatia international wants to wear one of his two favourite numbers in north London when the 2022/23 campaign kicks off.
One of those digits is 14, which is currently worn by Joe Rodon, who is wanted by newly promoted Nottingham Forest.
The other is 44, which is currently in the possession of Dane Scarlett, while he wears 4 for his country, but that is Cristian Romero’s.

Perisic holding out before deciding Tottenham shirt number
Their report reads: “Perisic is holding out for one of his two favourite shirt numbers at Tottenham Hotspur this summer after joining.
“Perisic is willing to hold out for a couple of months in order to see whether one of his two preferred numbers, which are currently in use, becomes available. Throughout almost all of of his long career, Perisic has worn either the number 14 or 44.
“At Spurs, both of the players who wear 14 and 44 are expected to head off next season to get minutes elsewhere. Wales international defender Joe Rodon wears 14 and is set for a move this summer, either on loan or permanently, in order to play regular football.
“The holder of the number 44 shirt is talented young striker Dane Scarlett and the 18-year-old is expected to head out on loan next season to continue his development. Even if Scarlett were to remain at Tottenham the teenager may well want to move up the squad numbers next season.“

Rodon was labelled as ‘perfect’ by Jose Mourinho, but has struggled to establish himself at the north London club and needs to start playing again.
Forest could be the ideal destination and it would see him reunited with his former Swansea manager Steve Cooper if he did move to the City Ground.
Spurs do still need a backup for Harry Kane and Scarlett could be that man but surely he would be better off going out on loan for a year for a season of regular men’s football.
