Former West Ham United defender Issa Diop actually spoke to Maxwel Cornet and helped to convince him join the club this summer, .
Diop made the switch to West London this summer as he joined Premier League new-boys Fulham.
West Ham completed the signing of Cornet from Burnley just a few days before Diop left.
And despite probably knowing he was heading out the door, Diop actually helped convince the 25-year-old to join the Hammers.

David Moyes’s men moved for the player after missing out on Filip Kostic to Juventus.
And while negotiations were ongoing, Cornet spoke to Diop about the possibility of joining West Ham.
Diop spoke about the club positively and Cornet sealed his move to East London.
The French defender was a loyal servant for the Hammers after spending four years at the club.
It’s no surprise that Diop has spoken about the club so positively after a decent spell under Moyes.
The former Toulouse man will now be playing his football at Craven Cottage but clearly has a lot of respect for the Hammers.
Cornet should prove to be an excellent signing for Moyes as he adds real quality to West Ham’s frontline.
The Ivorian was unlucky to not get off the mark on Saturday after his goal was controversially ruled out by VAR against Chelsea.
Cornet is yet to score for the Hammers but has looked really promising in his three appearances so far.
The Hammers get underway in the group stage of the Europa Conference League campaign tomorrow night. And Cornet could get another opportunity to impress Moyes.
