Report: International set to sign two-year deal with club after Leeds exit; rejected offers from higher up
Pablo Hernandez is on the verge of sealing his next move following his Leeds United exit this summer, that he is set to sign an initial two year deal with Castellon.
Hernandez brought the curtain down on an incredible spell at Elland Road earlier this year.
No single player did more to take Leeds back to the Premier League. And of course, no supporter will ever forget that goal at Swansea that moved Marcelo Bielsa’s men closer to the line in the promotion race.
But with the 36-year-old struggling for game-time in the top flight, it was little surprise when the announcement came that he was leaving.
It proved to be an incredibly emotional occasion as Hernandez, along with Gaetano Berardi, left the pitch for the final time as a Leeds player.
Berardi has reportedly been offered the chance to return to Italy. And it seems that Hernandez is also closing in on his next move.
, the attacking midfielder is set to sign for Castellon. He will initially join for two years, with an option for a third.
They may be gearing up for a season in Spain’s third tier. But they are a club that many Leeds supporters will be well aware of.
That is because Hernandez is a shareholder in the club.
AS notes that he rejected offers from higher up the leagues. Hernandez came through the ranks at Castellon before leaving for Valencia 18 years ago.

Hernandez proved with his final day performance against West Brom that he still has plenty left to give before he hangs up his boots.
The Spaniard pulled the strings against the Baggies. He nearly scored. And there was one final nutmeg to cheer.
Leeds fans are likely to follow his fortunes extremely closely wherever he goes. So Castellon can probably now expect to have quite the English following if they seal a deal for Hernandez.
