Report: Iago Herrerin likely to make PL move amid Everton and West Ham links

Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Iago Herrerin’s likeliest move this window will be to the Premier League according to reports in Spain.

AS claims the 32-year-old would be most set on coming to the English top-flight, with the stopper ready to bring an end to his 15-year stint at the Basque club.

Bilbao manager Gaizka Garitano admitted earlier in the summer that Herrerin wanted a new challenge.

The club are said to be open to terminating the player’s contract despite him still having a year remaining on it, which would allow him to join another club for free.

The decision comes after he made just nine appearances last term, with Unai Simon established as Bilbao’s number one.

Everton were reported last month () to be interested in signing Herrerin as backup for Jordan Pickford, and West Ham and Crystal Palace’s interest was reported in September ().

TBR’s View – Everton need someone to push Pickford

Joao Virginia is likely to head out on loan again, while Carlo Ancelotti doesn’t appear to rate Jonas Lossl having not selected him in any of his three matchday squads so far.

Herrerin is vastly experienced, and may actually be able to help Pickford as well as push him for a place in the team.
