Report: ‘Huge’ player set to sign for PSG, after claims Tottenham and Arsenal both wanted him

Arsenal and Spurs have both been busy in the transfer market this summer, signing five and six players respectively.

However, it appears as though both north London sides are set to miss out on , who is close to joining the French champions.

, and Antonio Conte’s side eventually brought in Yves Bissouma to strengthen their midfield options.

, but they too have brought in players to cover that position, with Fabio Vieira and Oleksandr Zinchenko both capable in that role, and Youri Tielemans also linked with a move.

Sanches would have been good option for north London sides

Some English fans will best remember Renato Sanches as the promising Portuguese midfielder who joined Swansea City on a disastrous loan deal from Bayern Munich in 2017.

The most memorable moment of that year in the Premier League was Sanches passing the ball to an advertising hoarding.

However, Sanches has revitalised his career since joining Lille in 2019, and featured in every game for Portugal at the European Championship last year.

The 24-year-old would have been a good option for either north London side, posting some of the best passing and dribbling stats of any midfielder in Europe last season.

And Sanches’ arrival at PSG could speed up the sale of West Ham and Everton target Gini Wijnaldum.
