Report: Howe wants to sign ‘unplayable’ £6.5m midfielder and build Newcastle team around him
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe reportedly wants to build his new Magpies team around Marouane Fellaini.
With the January transfer window now open, Newcastle can finally bolster their ailing ranks.
The Magpies are in need of strengthening in multiple positions, and a high-quality, steely midfielder wouldn’t be a bad call.

And according to Belgian outfit La Derniere Heure, Newcastle think Fellaini is the ideal man for the job.
The 34-year-old is currently plying his trade for Chinese Super League outfit Shandong Luneng.
He has made 80 appearances for them since joining in 2019 from Manchester United for a reported £6.5million.
Fellaini continues to impress, with 10 goals and one assists from 20 games last season.
claims “many clubs” would like to bring him back to Europe, including Newcastle.
Fellaini wouldn’t be a bad shout for the Magpies, given his quality and extensive Premier League experience.
The Belgian clocked up over 300 competitive appearances for Everton and Manchester United combined.
Fellaini is incredibly versatile – throughout his career, he’s all across midfield, on the flanks and even up front.

“Definitely a player that, on his day, is unplayable with his size, athleticism and ability to hold the ball,” Keith Curle told in 2015.
“He’s got a willingness to arrive in the box and he’s a big strong lad.
“He’s probably more gifted on the ground and his finishing ability than people give him credit for.”
Fellaini’s contract runs until 2025, so Shandong’s hand is strong in negotiations.
However, his experience and quality would no doubt be crucial for Newcastle in pursuit of Premier League safety.
