Report: Henrikh Mkhitaryan calls Arsenal to outline future plans
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has told Arsenal during a phone call that he’d like to stay at Roma beyond the end of his current loan agreement,
The Armenian will see his current deal at the Emirates Stadium expire in the summer of 2021, although the club could look to offer him an extension in order to trim his £180,000-a-week wages down.
Mkhitaryan has never really got going at Arsenal since arriving as part of the deal which saw Alexis Sanchez join Manchester United in 2018.

The 31-year-old can play in a number of positions and with Mikel Arteta taking the reigns since his departure, some wondered whether he might win another chance at Arsenal.
Roma are unwilling to spend more than £10 million on signing him permanently and that is some distance short of the £18 million which Arsenal want to recoup.
Mkhitaryan has enjoyed some relatively good form during his time with Roma, scoring six goals and registering four assists in 20 appearances.
In 59 game for Arsenal, he only managed nine goals and 13 assists, constantly facing a battle for fitness and form.
Arteta will likely pursue his own players during the transfer window and a second chance for Mkhitaryan does seem unlikely.
With that in mind, allowing him to leave for Roma once again makes perfect sense.

The Gunners won’t want the 86-cap international to leave for free, however, and will choose an option which is the most financially lucrative for them.
Sometimes in football, certain players suit certain clubs and there is little to doubt that Mkhitaryan can play.
Sadly, it hasn’t worked out for the attacking midfielder at Arsenal and offloading him looks like the best bet for the summer.
