Report: Greek club Olympiacos want to sign Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson, loan deal on the horizon
that Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson could join Sokratis at Olympiacos this summer. The Greek Super League champions want to sign a winger and Nelson has climbed to the top of their list. The Gunners are seemingly keen on sending him out on loan.
Nelson, 21, is expected to leave Arsenal on loan and follow the likes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Joe Willock in the search for regular game time. The England youth international only played nine times last season, clocking up just two appearances in the Premier League.
But unlike Willock and Maitland-Niles who joined Newcastle and West Brom on loan in January, Nelson could depart the entire country. That is because Olympiacos are interested. Sokratis currently resides with the title winners, as does Yann M’Vila, Mady Camara and other recognisable names.
They are said to be on the lookout for a new winger and Nelson is among the names they are considering. With two years left to run on his Arsenal deal, Nelson will be desperate to show he is capable of having a career with the Gunners on a long-term basis. A loan is the best way to do that.
Surely Arsenal talent Nelson would be best to remain in England, over Olympiacos?
There are numerous examples where going on loan in Englandis better than a loan to a European club. At Tottenham, Oliver Skipp has gained enormous plaudits for his performances in a Norwich City shirt. Ryan Sessegnon has been equally as good, but he has been at Hoffenheim.
The hype certainly surrounds Skipp more �and that is even though Sessegnon has been playing top-tier football. So, Nelson really needs to have a long think. Does he want to join a title-winning side, or should he remain in England where he can remain under the watchful eye of Arsenal fans?
