Report: ‘Great’ manager who’s ‘very good tactically’ is close to accepting Crystal Palace job

Crystal Palace are edging closer to landing Lucien Favre, according to the D.

The Eagles have been on the lookout for a new manager in wake of Roy Hodgson’s departure from Selhurst Park.

Palace have reportedly held positive talks with the former Borussia Dortmund boss.

Favre is apparently close to accepting the Eagles’ offer after thinking about it over the weekend.

Everton have apparently also been eyeing the 63-year old, but he is reportedly leaning towards a move to Selhurst Park.

Likewise, Fenerbahce have reportedly expressed an interest in Favre, but he’s believed to favour a move to England.

Palace manager search seemingly leading to great candidate

Favre, a former Switzerland international, began his coaching career in 1993.

He has managed the likes of Hertha Berlin, Borussia Monchengladbach, Nice and Dortmund.

Favre is similar to Hodgson in many ways, claimed last week.

He has the ability to work in several countries and organise teams in various leagues.

Palace owner Steve Parish apparently pulled out of the chase for ex-Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

And he also ended interest in coaches short-listed in domestic football such as Steve Cooper, Valerian Ismael and Frank Lampard.

Favre – who was linked with Newcastle last year – is a free agent and would not cost any compensation.

He also takes a small backroom staff with him which would suit Palace, added .

While at Nice, Favre got the best out of Mario Balotelli.

The Italian scored an impressive 43 times in 66 matches under the Swiss coach.

“He made me much better, especially tactically. Before, I worked on instinct,” Balotelli said in 2020, according to .
