Report: German club beating Rangers and Celtic in race to sign 22-year-old
Rangers and Celtic are reportedly going head to head for Charlton Athletic midfielder Joe Aribo after he starred for the League One side in their bid for promotion – but both sides are losing the race to land his signature.
that Rangers and Celtic fancy the 22-year-old. His contract is set to expire at the end of the season, though he remains in action as Charlton look to book their place in the League One play-off final.
Aribo has been in excellent form for Lee Bowyer’s side this season. Likened to Patrick Vieira, Aribo has scored 10 goals from the middle of the park and shown a creative side, creating five more.
It has seen Rangers and Celtic, as well as Southampton and French club Rennes become interested in his signature.

Indeed, it looks as though another German side are set to nab one of England’s young stars again. That is because Eintracht Frankfurt are reportedly winning the race to land Aribo, ahead of Celtic and Rangers.
TBR’s view
Aribo would be an excellent signing for either Celtic or Rangers. But if you put yourself in Aribo’s shoes, Frankfurt is likely to be the best move for the young midfielder.
Jadon Sancho is starring at Borussia Dortmund, David Bates at Hamburg, Ademola Lookman last season at RB Leipzig and more. British stars are doing well in German football.
That could be why Frankfurt are winning the race to sign Aribo.
