Report: Georginio Wijnaldum has rejected Everton in last few hours

Georginio Wijnaldum has rejected an offer from Everton in the last few hours, that the Dutchman is closing in on a move to Roma.

Wijnaldum looks set to leave Paris Saint-Germain after an underwhelming year in the French capital. Obviously, the problem with offloading the 31-year-old is the wages he earns at Parc des Princes.

that he earns over £130,000-a-week. But it seems that a move is now close.

His agent met with Tiago Pinto regarding a potential switch to Roma yesterday. Wijnaldum meanwhile, wants to move to Serie A and work with Jose Mourinho.

The Giallorossi could now sign the former Liverpool star permanently for less than £8.5 million. Previously, it had been expected that he may make the switch on loan that could become permanent for £10.2 million.

Interestingly, it seems that Wijnaldum has rejected a Premier League return in favour of heading to Italy. Calciomercato claims that he has rejected Everton in the last few hours.

Wijnaldum has rejected Everton offer

It is not a huge surprise that Everton look set to miss out on Wijnaldum. Of course, such a move would taint his legacy amongst Liverpool fans given that the Reds did not want to lose him 12 months ago. Jurgen Klopp labelled him ‘‘ upon his departure.

But it is also a risky time to move to Goodison Park, in truth. The Toffees could be in for another difficult season. And they really need a number of signings to lift the mood.

Wijnaldum would have surely had major reservations about making such a move.

Unfortunately, the choice between Everton and Roma looks a simple one right now.
