Report: Foot injury could rule Rangers ace Steven Davis out of cup final

Rangers could be without Steven Davis this weekend, .

Steven Gerrard is trying to give Davis every chance to get fit and face bitter rivals Celtic in the League Cup final. But Davis has a foot injury and he is a major doubt for the game, alongside Borna Barisic.

Rangers have noticed that Davis has picked up a foot injury and he played through it in the week. The Northern Ireland star was not quite at his best during the game and this was because of the pain in his foot.

Gerrard thinks the 34-year-old might miss the cup final, which is on later today. He has played 25 matches this season so losing Davis would be a blow as Gerrard seeks his first piece of silverware as Gers manager.

Meanwhile, Gerrard is hoping to have Barisic fit. The Croatian left-back is another doubt for the game but Gerrard believes he can regain his fitness in time to face the Bhoys in a high-stakes Old Firm clash today.

TBR’s view

Davis’ absence will be a huge blow for Rangers because of the experience he brings. With leadership, control and a composed head, Davis is invaluable in this Rangers side.

Gerrard is now blessed with players who could replace the veteran midfielder. Either way, there is a cracking contest in store today.
