Report: ‘Fantastic’ rarely-seen Spurs player to get his Premier League chance in the coming weeks

Tottenham Hotspur striker Carlos Vinicius is expected to be given his chance in the Premier League in the coming weeks, according to .

The 25-year-old joined Spurs on loan from Benfica in October, and he has made six appearances in all competitions for Jose Mourinho’s side, registering three goals and three assists.

The vast majority of Vinicius’ game time for Spurs has come in the Europa League, while in the English top flight, he has made just one appearance, a 12-minute cameo against West Brom.

The Brazilian didn’t even make the squad against Crystal Palace and Liverpool, prompting speculation to arise regarding a potential injury.

According to , however, Vinicius isn’t injured and Mourinho simply had too many options to fit on his bench against the Reds, opting for Lucas Moura and Dele Alli.

With the festive schedule bringing forth five fixtures between now and January 2, Vinicius will likely get his chance sooner rather than later, with Kane set to be given some rest instead of playing every minute of every game.

Vinicius joined Tottenham knowing that he was going to be playing second fiddle to Kane, but credit to him for making the most of the limited game time he’s had.

Former Spurs striker Peter Crouch deemed Vinicius a “fantastic back-up to Kane” and that’s spot on – as good as the England captain is, he needs cover in case he’s injured, suspended or simply fatigued.
