Report: ‘Fantastic’ player Tottenham sold in January not trying hard enough in training for new team

Dele Alli needs to show more in Everton training to impress manager Frank Lampard following his January move from Tottenham.

The report that Lampard has been disappointed by what he has seen from the English midfielder behind the scenes.

It was reported last month that Everton were already looking to offload Alli just months after his arrival at Goodison Park.

And in March, it was claimed that some at Everton were shocked by how far off the pace Dele was following his Tottenham exile.

Dele Alli needs to do more in Everton training

Lampard apparently believes he should have seen more in training from Dele last season as Everton narrowly avoided the drop.

He was initially thrilled to get a player in of Dele’s talent but those feelings had long faded away by the time the business end of the season rolled around.

Lampard got to the point where he felt Dele could not be trusted in some games, but there were signs of life later in the season, especially on that crucial night against Crystal Palace.

£10 million is due to Spurs when 20 league appearances, and it cannot be ruled out that Everton will try and offload Dele before he gets to that point.

Dele has ‘‘ talent, but he has not shown it anywhere near enough in recent seasons, and it was hoped that the Everton move could reignite him.

That has not proved to be the case so far, and perhaps with a full pre-season behind him, he could really show Lampard what he can do.

Dele has not shown Tottenham what they are missing so far, and with the World Cup just months away, the man who started in England’s 2018 semi-final side is nowhere near the squad now.
