According to , Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has decided he wants to join Real Betis on a permanent deal in the summer.

The Spanish full-back joined the Gunners as a teenager all the way back in 2011 from Barcelona’s youth academy. He spent a decade at the Emirates and many believed he’d become the club captain one day.

Sadly, a horrible knee injury really hurt his confidence and he never quite recovered from that.

Bellerin joined Real Betis on loan last summer and he has become a star there. He helped them win their first trophy in 17 long years and now wants to call the Estadio Benito Villamarín his permanent home.

Bellerin is a happy man again in Spain at Real Betis after a couple of disappointing years at Arsenal. He just wanted a change last summer and Mikel Arteta granted him his wish.

Now, after a hugely successful campaign in which he has played 31 times in all competitions, Bellerin wants to make his loan deal a permanent one.

The report claims that the Spaniard is even willing to lower his wages to get a deal done, which is exactly what he did to secure his loan back in last summer’s transfer window.

It will be interesting to see how much Arsenal will demand to let go of Bellerin, who will still have a year left on his Gunners contract this summer.

Hector Bellerin is a fantastic footballer and going by what people at Arsenal say about him, he’s an even better man. Mikel Arteta branded him as an ‘exceptional player and an incredible person when he left on loan last year, and even claimed that everyone at the club will miss him.

Arsenal went and signed Takehiro Tomiyasu last summer and he has become a fan favourite. The reception he received when he returned from his injury last weekend tells you everything you need to know about the player, and he’s not going to lose his number one spot anytime soon.

The Gunners have Cedric Soares as a backup at the moment, while young Brooke Norton-Cuffy, currently on loan at Lincoln City, is impressing everyone and is tipped to have a bright future at the club. That eliminates the need for Bellerin at the Emirates.

Arsenal are unlikely to stand in Bellerin’s way in the summer but whether Real Betis can afford the Gunners’ demands remains to be seen.
