£20m Manchester City player wants to speak to Pep Guardiola ASAP about his future

Manchester City have had a great week with news of Pep Guardiola extending his contract but that doesn’t mean every single player remains happy with their situation at the club.

Guardiola’s extension is a natural boost for City as they look to remain the dominant force in English football and make it five titles in a row this season.

However, while Guardiola has been outstanding at City, there are a few players who have fallen by the wayside a touch and not quite pushed on.

Of course, we saw how Cole Palmer was moved on after finding game time limited and now, another player who is similar to Palmer is desperate to talk to Guardiola about his future.

James McAtee wants Guardiola talks after new deal announced

According to , young midfielder James McAtee is wanting to speak with Guardiola ASAP as he looks for some clarity over his future.

While McAtee has been involved this season and even scored in the Champions League, he hasn’t quite had the game time many thought he’d get.

McAtee impressed in the last two seasons with Sheffield United but now back with City, is finding regular minutes hard to come by.

It’s suggested that McAtee would rather speak to Pep and remain at the club if he is going to get chances this season.

However, there’s a danger that McAtee sees his future away from The Etihad and with that, bids of around £20m may be considered by the champions.

Guardiola has called McAtee and ‘‘ talent in the past, while Celtic have also been linked with McAtee not too long ago.

McAtee finds himself in Cole Palmer’s shoes

As mentioned above, Cole Palmer had similar discussions with Guardiola and in the end, he decided to move on and he’s shining at Chelsea.

For McAtee, he’ll feel the situation is similar, albeit there are doubts over whether McAtee has the talent that Palmer possesses.

Still, at 22, he’s getting to the stage in his career where the next decision he makes is crucial for his development.

There will be plenty of Premier League teams who will take McAtee but whether or not they can offer him the game time that Chelsea did with Palmer, remains to be seen.
