Report: Everything indicates West Ham will complete £20.8m deal for star

West Ham United are closing in on a deal for Duje Caleta-Car, that they are in advanced talks over a move that could be worth a fee of £20.8 million.

The Hammers are threatening to spring a surprise in the final hours of the January transfer window. Reports this weekend have claimed that Kalvin Phillips has attracted a £50 million bid from David Moyes’ side.

And having had plenty of injury issues at the back, it is little surprise that they are pushing to sign a new centre-back.

that everything indicates that the Croatian will end the window at West Ham.

Talks are progressing. West Ham are looking to pay an initial £16.6 million. There would also be a percentage of any future sale on its way to Stade Velodrome.

Meanwhile, Caleta-Car would have his wages doubled by moving to the London Stadium. He is set to earn more than £83,000-a-week with West Ham.

West Ham one to watch on deadline day as Caleta-Car deal edges closer

West Ham have made some astonishing moves in recent days. As well as Phillips, they have reportedly made a £50 million bid for Raphinha.

Neither move looks likely. But it is a huge statement of intent as West Ham continue to battle amongst the heavyweights in the Premier League.

A move for Caleta-Car is an exciting piece of business. He is a Croatia international coming into the peak years of his career after an impressive spell in France.

It is an incredibly smart move for this window. And the bids for the likes of Phillips and Raphinha perhaps drop an exciting hint regarding what may be to come in the summer.
