Report: Everyone at Hotspur Way now thinks £27m Tottenham player will leave this summer, he’s very frustrated

According to a report from , Steven Bergwijn is all set to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer, or at least that’s what everyone at the club believes at this moment.
The Dutchman was signed by Jose Mourinho in January 2020 from PSV Eindhoven for £27 million (). Bergwijn started off his Spurs career in spectacular style, scoring against Manchester City on his debut.
Many Tottenham fans believed they’d signed a real star then, but things just haven’t worked out for the talented 24-year-old. He has played just 80 games for Spurs in all competitions, of which he has started just 38.
Bergwijn was desperate to leave Spurs in January, but his wish wasn’t granted.
Everyone at Tottenham thinks Steven Bergwijn will leave
Bergwijn has made 28 appearances in all competitions this season, but his time on the pitch has been limited to just 836 minutes, which is nowhere near enough for a 24-year-old.
With Son Heing-min, Harry Kane and Dejan Kulusevski all fit and firing, there’s very little chance that Antonio Conte will look to reintegrate Bergwijn into his side this season or in the next.
That’s why, there is reportedly a consensus at Hotspur Way that Bergwijn will be leaving the club in the upcoming summer transfer window.
A return to the Netherlands seems the likeliest option at this moment in time.

TBR View:
Bergwijn is still a really talented footballer.
He can play anywhere across the front three, is quick, good on the ball and is a quality finisher as well. The fact that he’s still only 24 means he’ll only get better, but it sadly won’t happen at Tottenham.
has already commented on his situation, claiming that he was happy he was called up to the national squad as he doesn’t really get opportunities at Spurs anymore.
It really is a shame that things haven’t worked out for Bergwijn, which makes a transfer this summer the best thing for all parties involved.
