Report: Everton very keen on giant £13.5m centre-back likened to Van Dijk, Arsenal also linked
Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton have reportedly registered interest in Kim Min-jae, a player also linked with Premier League rivals Arsenal.
According to , the South Korea international is on the Toffees’ radar, while claims that the 23-year-old’s displays for Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan have attracted interest from the Gunners.
The 30-times capped ace apparently wants to play in England, putting the Toffees and the Gunners ahead of most of the other suitors, with RB Leipzig, Lazio, Porto and PSV Eindhoven all reportedly in the hunt.

However, Watford reportedly tried to sign the “Korean Van Dijk” in the past (), while Southampton are said to have enquired about the 6ft 3in defender, also nicknamed “The Monster” due to his height and physicality.
Kim rose to prominence with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in the South Korean top flight, winning the league in 2017 and 2018 and being named in the division’s team of the season on both occasions.
He then joined Beijing Guoan for a reported £4.5million in January 2019 and has continued to progress as a player, with claiming the Chinese Super League club is willing to sell the £13.5million-rated ace.
TBR View:
For a player to earn comparisons with Van Dijk and progressing so well over the past few years, not to mention his impressive physical attributes and plentiful senior international caps at his young age, £13.5million sounds like a modest fee to pay.
Everton have had their fair share of defensive issues and Ancelotti really ought to bolster his ranks at the back, but with Arsenal and other clubs all said to be eyeing the player, it’ll be a tricky task, albeit one which could prove very fruitful.
