Report: Everton tried to land Nelson Semedo, but player has now joined Wolves
Everton reportedly tried to hijack Wolverhampton Wanderers’ move for Portuguese full-back Nelson Semedo.
the Toffees failed with a late attempt to try and scupper the Barcelona star’s move to Molineux, with the club having made an approach through intermediaries.
Semedo has now been officially announced by Wolves.

Everton’s search for a new right-back will continue, with Santiago Arias having again been linked with a move to Goodison Park in recent days.
The Atletico Madrid sporting director has admitted () there has been contact between the two clubs over the Colombia international, and it could be that the South American joins his international teammates Yerry Mina and James Rodriguez on Merseyside.
Semedo’s £30 million move to Wolves () seemed pretty much set in stone for a while.
The club obviously have a large Portuguese contingent, and Jorge Mendes was behind the operation as he is with most deals Wolves do.
TBR’s View – Semedo would have been a coup
Everton’s reported failure to hijack Semedo’s move to Molineux is a shame, as he would have been a fine addition for Carlo Ancelotti.

Although Seamus Coleman has made a great start to the new season, the Republic of Ireland international soon turns 32 and a long-term replacement needs to be considered if it’s not going to be Jonjoe Kenny.
Two-time La Liga winner Semedo is a quality, attack-minded right-back who would have brought creativity and pace for the Toffees.
Hopefully Wolves’ gain won’t prove to be Everton’s loss.
