Report: Everton submit offer for Ancelotti-approved ‘great player’ wanted by Newcastle

Everton have reportedly made an offer to sign a player that Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti rates highly and allegedly wants to bring to Goodison Park amid reported interest from Newcastle United.

The Toffees has been linked with Napoli midfielder Allan for some time and, according to , have submitted a £40million bid for the Brazilian, who recently claimed was sought after by the Magpies post-takeover.

However, the Italian outlet claims that Aurelio Di Laurentiis is holding out for a fee in the region of £63million, despite Allan’s days at the San Paolo appearing very much numbered.

Allan has been widely tipped to leave Napoli this summer following a disagreement with head coach Gennaro Gattuso and a player of his calibre is likely to be sought after by many clubs.

The 29-year-old joined the Partenopei from Udinese in the summer of 2015 for a reported and has clocked up 203 appearances in all competitions for the Stadio San Paolo side.

TBR View:

Allan is a high-calibre player who would add a combative streak to both Everton and Newcastle’s midfields.

He has kept the likes of Neymar and Mohamed Salah at bay in the past, and given his future at Napoli is uncertain, he could do with a fresh start elsewhere.

Newcastle could surely outbid any opponent both in terms of transfer fee and of wages, while Everton would enable him to link up with a coach who rates him very highly and knows how to get the best out of him.

“For me, Allan is a great player, to say he can’t play is an understatement,” he told after the 2-0 win over Hellas Verona last October.

Obviously it won’t be easy for either club to sign him, given how valuable he is to Napoli, where he is contracted to 2023, but given he is surplus to Gattuso’s requirements, it’s not impossible by any means.
