Report: Everton staff notice that their ‘special’ player has put on a lot of muscle since last season

Everton staff have been impressed with defender Nathan Patterson in training since injury impacted his first season at the club.

The report that an ankle injury which required surgery and cut his 2021/22 season short was a blow which also offered an opportunity.

Patterson apparently worked one on one with Everton’s medical and fitness team in the gym, allowing him to put on muscle mass.

They say that the Scotland international put on 4kg since last season and his physical transformation has been noted at Goodison Park.

They report that his physical statistics in training have also improved, and he is now performing better in training as well.

He also came back from his injury ahead of schedule, which is yet another example of his hard work behind the scenes.

That set the groundwork for him to impress Lampard in the former Chelsea manager’s first pre-season in charge at Goodison Park.

Patterson has been called ‘‘ by Barry Ferguson around the time he made his move from Rangers to the other side of the border.

He is now starting to show that ability which convinced Everton to sign him, after an injury-affected period earlier this year.

He has clearly bulked up and is ready for the challenge of keeping Premier League wingers quiet, and Everton’s games get back underway this weekend when they face West Ham.
