Report: Everton see Abdoulaye Doucoure bid rejected; Watford want £25m

Everton are expected to make a fresh move for Abdoulaye Doucoure, that Watford have rejected the Toffees’ first bid for the midfielder.

The London Evening Standard reports that the Hornets are willing to let the Frenchman leave this summer following their relegation from the Premier League.

The report notes that the Toffees have confirmed their interest with an offer for Doucoure. However, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have seen that bid rejected.

And it is suggested that Doucoure is ready to move to Merseyside, so agreeing personal terms is unlikely to be an issue.

TBR View: £25m would be bargain for Everton

Despite Watford’s relegation, Doucoure has been a hugely impressive performer in the Premier League.

And thus, a £25 million move has the potential to be a real bargain for Everton.

It would perhaps be a gamble therefore, for the Toffees to not meet his asking price with their next offer.

Everton do not want to leave the door open for any of their rivals to come in with a bid. With Doucoure reportedly keen, the ball is in the Toffees’ court to make sure that they get a move across the line.
