Report: Everton plan to trigger option to sign Conor Coady permanently
Everton plan to trigger the option to sign Conor Coady permanently, that the next Wolves manager will not have the opportunity to recall the centre-back.
Wolves are being made to rue letting Coady leave before the end of the transfer window. Of course, he had established himself as a club legend. And he was the captain up until his departure from Molineux.
However, Bruno Lage left him out of the team for the opening day clash at Leeds. Coady has been known as a specialist in a back three. And Lage seemingly decided that he was not suited to the modified system he wanted to play, despite labelling him ‘‘ people he knew in football.

Wolves’ loss has proved to be Everton’s gain. No side in the Premier League boasts a better defensive record so far this season than the Toffees.
Understandably, Everton are already planning to make his loan move permanent having been impressed by his leadership. that they have the option to sign him for less than £10 million.
Everton also do not have to worry about the prospect of Wolves’ next manager wanting Coady back. The Times reports that Lage’s successor will not have the option to recall him.
So the ball remains in Everton’s court.
As things stand, it really does appear that Wolves loaning Coady to Everton may go down as one of the most baffling pieces of business of the season.
Admittedly, Wolves’ problems have not really been at the back. They have only scored three goals so far. But Lage did use Ruben Neves at centre-back in his final game in charge.
Coady meanwhile, has played in a back four for Everton. And clearly, signing him on loan is threatening to be a masterstroke. And making the move permanent is not going to break the bank for the Toffees.
Thankfully, the upheaval at Molineux does not throw a spanner in the works for Everton.
