Report: Everton now make ‘clever’ striker their new top transfer target, planning move this week
Frank Lampard’s side have started the season poorly, with two defeats on the bounce.
Their form in front of goal hasn’t been good either, having scored only one goal in the league so far.

That finish came courtesy of their former defender Lucas Digne who turned the ball into his own net on Saturday in their 2-1 defeat by Aston Villa.
Everton make Adams one of their main transfer targets
Everton have been wanting to bring in another forward this summer to replace Richarlison, after his £60m move to Tottenham.
Lampard is currently missing first choice forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is still at least a month away from returning from injury.
Anthony Gordon has been deployed as Everton’s most advanced central attacker in their first two games.

However, he hasn’t been as effective as he normally is when played out wide, and Lampard will want him back in his natural position as quickly as possible.
has been a steady player for Southampton since joining in 2019.
He’s scored 20 Premier League goals in just under 100 appearances, which isn’t the best record, but is a hard-working player off the ball and creates plenty of chances for his teammates.

He started Southampton’s 2-2 draw with Leeds on Saturday, another club he’s previously been linked with, but wasn’t brought off the bench the weekend before against Tottenham as Ralph Hassenhuttl works out his best forward partnership.
There’s reports that Southampton are privately willing to let Adams go, but Everton’s current financial position may make any deal difficult to do.
There could be an opportunity for their budget to increase though, with Chelsea linked with a sensational bid for Gordon, that would allow Everton to do important business to strengthen other areas of their squad.
