Report: Everton interested in signing Burkina Faso international

Everton could reportedly make a play for Lyon striker Bertrand Traore this summer.

That’s from Yahoo Sport France – – who claim the Toffees have stepped up their interest in the former Chelsea man and could ‘quickly formulate’ an offer.

Traore has made 46 appearances so far this season, although he has been used more as a substitute by manager Bruno Genesio in recent months.

The 23-year-old has been with Lyon since 2017 after transferring from Chelsea, where he couldn’t establish himself as a regular.

Traore has since found his feet in the French top flight, and has 20 goals and six assists in the competition.

TBR’s view

Traore could be an interesting signing for Everton.

He was undoubtedly not ready at Chelsea and the competition was too strong for him when he was at Stamford Bridge.

But Traore has been developing nicely at the Ligue 1 outfit and may feel he has unfinished business in the Premier League.

The versatile ace can play anywhere along the forward line, and has frightening pace.

He would be an upgrade on Everton’s other attacking options at present; Oumar Niasse, Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott.
