Report: Everton have matched West Ham’s £33.5m bid for Amadou Onana
Everton have matched West Ham’s £33.5 million bid for Amadou Onana, that the midfielder would now prefer to move to Goodison Park.
The Hammers appeared to be closing in on a deal for the 20-year-old. Reports this week claimed that they were in talks with Lille over a move with David Moyes very keen to get an agreement across the line.

And it seemed that they had managed a breakthrough. The Daily Mail reports that Lille accepted West Ham’s £33.5 million bid for the Belgium international on Wednesday.
However, just as it seemed that the Irons were about to close in on Onana, Everton made their move. , the Toffees have now matched West Ham’s bid.

And crucially, Onana is now in favour of heading to Merseyside. Everton have offered better personal terms. And thus, it seems that Frank Lampard’s men are now on pole position to secure his signature.

It would be a real coup for Everton to now beat West Ham to Onana’s signature. He appears to be a real talent with an incredibly high ceiling. It has previously been suggested that he has the ‘‘ attributes to reach the top of the game.
It had been a torrid start to the window for the Toffees. But the sale of Richarlison appears to have opened the door for a number of deals.
For West Ham, it is clearly a real blow. The Hammers have enjoyed a promising summer so far. But they will surely want a few more additions to keep up with the traditional ‘big six’.
And Onana clearly has the potential to be a special player. It will be interesting to see whether West Ham now make a last-ditch attempt to snatch him back from the Toffees’ grasp.
