However, Carlo Ancelotti’s Toffees are believed to be just one of several Premier League clubs interested in the Metz ace.

Aston Villa, Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle have also been linked with the 18-year-old.

Sarr only made his debut in November but he’s already become a regular starter for Metz, clocking up 21 competitive senior appearances.

His primary position is in defensive midfield by trade but he’s also been deployed centrally and in attacking midfield, impressing in a box-to-box role.

As well as doing well for Metz, Sarr has been capped once by Senegal, playing 79 minutes in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Republic of Congo in March, a 0-0 draw.

Les Grenats are reportedly hoping for around £27million.

TBR View:

Sarr is a talented player who’s done well in his senior career thus far, earning himself a regular starting spot at Metz and also breaking into the Senegal senior setup.

Frederic Antonetti, his manager at club level, is quoted by as saying the youngster is a “great talent” with “great potential for a great career”.

That said, maybe £27million is a bit steep for a player who only has about half a season’s worth of top-flight experience.

Sarr might have done well so far but, as with all young players, he could do with a couple more seasons out of the proverbial spotlight where he can develop further.
