Report: Everton defender Brendan Galloway linked with Luton Town and Wigan Athletic

Everton outcast Brendan Galloway is wanted by two Championship clubs. According to The Sun on Sunday (June 9th, page 59), Luton Town and Wigan Athletic will battle for Galloway.

The Toffees are ready to let Galloway leave this summer. He was limited to Everton U23 action last season with Lucas Digne and Leighton Baines preferred to him.

Galloway has played 21 times for Everton’s first-team but has dropped down the pecking order in the last two seasons. And with one year remaining on his contract, Everton are prepared to cut their losses.

Everton could let Galloway leave on a free transfer. Marco Silva has no plans to use the left-back and his availability has alerted the likes of Luton and Wigan.

Luton were promoted to the Championship just one year after moving up to League One. Galloway would compete with Dan Potts for the left-back spot at Kenilworth Road.

Alternatively, the Zimbabwe international could move to Wigan. The only senior left-back on the Latics’ books is Danny Fox and he prefers to play at centre-back now.

Galloway has had two loan spells away from Everton. He spent six months with West Brom in the top-flight before half a season with Sunderland in the Championship.

Both spells were unsuccessful and the 23-year-old could not build on his early-career promise. Now Galloway needs to rebuild his career in the second-tier.
