Report: Everton could make move to sign striker who says he’s still in contact with Benitez

Everton are said to be on ‘red alert’ in the race to sign Salomon Rondon this summer, .
Big interest
Rondon has a great relationship with Everton boss Rafael Benitez, having worked with him at Newcastle United.
The powerhouse striker has said that he has kept in contact with Benitez even after the pair both left St. James’ Park ().
Rondon is currently playing in China, but he could be released due to the size of his contract.
And if the target man is available on a free transfer then Everton could well make a move to sign him, the latest update suggests.
Strong cover
Everton do already have Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison who can play up-front.
They have also welcomed Moise Kean back to their squad this summer, although it is not certain that he will stick around.

If Rondon was also to sign up he would likely arrive as cover.
But he could be an appealing option, despite his advancing years.
Rondon was a real threat during his last spell in the Premier League with Newcastle United.
And as an alternative option for Everton up-front he could be a valuable addition, especially if he is available for free.
