Report: Everton close to signing of Bayern Munich gem Josh Zirkzee

Everton are set to complete the signing of Bayern Munich player Josh Zirkzee,

The 19-year-old is set to arrive at Goodison Park on loan with a view to signing permanently during the summer.

Zirkzee has not really made the grade at Bayern, scoring just four goals in 17 appearances.

Now, it seems as though the Bavarians are prepared to offload the player who they signed from Feyenoord in 2017.

The Holland under-21 international looks like an intriguing signing for the Toffees and is one that has come out of nowhere.

Carlo Ancelotti’s attack is spearheaded by Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Zirkzee will bolster the ranks.

Cenk Tosun scored in last week’s FA Cup win over Rotherham and he too will hope to get more opportunities to impress.

Zirkzee is one of Europe’s brightest prospects though and Ancelotti can get him firing, Everton could have themselves a fine player.

The teenager scored for fun for Bayern at youth level and the challenge now is for him to show he can do it in men’s football.

Zirkzee will also add an element of versatility to Ancelotti’s squad. The youngster can operate as a centre forward or in the No.10 role.

TBR View – Will Zirkzee be Brands masterstroke?

This is the sort of signing that should excite Everton supporters and Marcel Brands might have hit the jackpot.

After a slow start to his time at Goodison Park, the Director of Football looks to be getting it right.

Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure, James Rodriguez and Ben Godfrey were all decent summer additions – and Zirkzee could follow suit.

At 19 he is viewed as an exciting prospect and he’ll provide some decent competition for Calvert-Lewin.

Zirkzee will need to prove himself of course but Brands might have struck gold with this eye-catching capture.
