Everton and Tottenham Hotspur ‘increased anxiety’ at Lazio with their interest in Maurizio Sarri becoming their next manager, per .
The Toffees and Spurs are searching for replacements for Carlo Ancelotti and Jose Mourinho, while Lazio need Simone Inzaghi’s successor. The Argentine to take over from Antonio Conte at Serie A champions Inter Milan.
Lazio are confident Sarri will accept their offer to return to the dugout after a year out of the game. But the potential for the 62-year-old to return to the Premier League left them on edge.
Tottenham nor Everton are yet to contact Sarri or his representatives, however. The Tuscan native would also prefer to stay in Italy than return to England for personal reasons. He could now sign the contract put before him, after Lazio presented a raft of guarantees.
The Biancocelesti have assured Sarri they intend to strengthen in the transfer window and have put forward enticing personal terms. Sports Director Igli Tare met with his agent, Fali Ramadani, last Friday as negotiations reached an advanced stage, as well.
But claimed that Conte rejecting the vacant Tottenham position had left Sarri considering a change of heart. He had all but agreed to join Lazio and remains their favoured choice to occupy the Stadio Olimpico helm.

Everton and Tottenham have a small window to advance on Sarri, as report he could be unveiled as Lazio’s manager on Monday. The former Chelsea boss has until Tuesday to decide if he wants the job before the Biancocelesti turn to alternatives.
As contact between Sarri and the Toffees or Spurs is yet to begin, it is unlikely that the Italian will be returning to England. He would have been a solid choice for either side, having won Premier League games during a one-year stay at Stamford Bridge.
Those wins led to a third-placed finish and built the base form of a side that won the Europa League. It marked his as a manager before winning the Serie A with Juventus in his only season there. Now what remains to be seen is what he can achieve with Lazio.
