TBR View: Wolves will make a huge mistake loaning out £30k-per-week ace

Sporting CP should complete a loan deal for Wolves full-back Ruben Vinagre by the end of the week, according to .

The defender spent the second half of last season on-loan with Liga NOS outfit Famalicao in what was a solid spell away. Prior to that he spent the opening few months of the campaign with Olympiacos, where he rarely featured.

Vinagre joined the Midlanders from AS Monaco back in 2017 on an initial loan deal, however, had endured a tough time. He featured just 70 times across four years in a stuttering spell at Molineux Stadium.

It is being claimed that the deal to sign the fullback will include either an optional or mandatory purchase clause. The 22-year-old has been guaranteed a role alongside Nuno Mendes, who will leave this summer or next winter.

Vinagre could be useful asset for Wolves amid loan talks

Amidst talks over a loan spell away from Wolves, you can’t help but feel a transfer is a wrong move for Vinagre.

Left-back proved to be a problem area under former boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

Jonny Otto and Marcal missed large swathes of the season through injury, whilst, Rayan Ait-Nouri was underwhelming.

Meanwhile, Vinagre enjoyed a brilliant spell with Famalicao. His performances helped the outfit to a midtable finish in just their second season in the Portuguese top-flight.

As a matter of fact, the played more key passes per game than ‘ other left-backs.

Allowing the 22-year-old to leave given the club’s current plight is a mistake waiting to happen.
