Report: English club join race for Liverpool attacker, European move expected

that English League One side Hull City are interested in raiding Liverpool to sign Ben Woodburn on loan this summer, though the Anfield attacker is expected to try something new and move to the Netherlands.

Woodburn, 20, broke onto the scene when he scored on his Liverpool debut against Leeds United in the Carabao Cup. He has even earned 10 caps for Wales, scoring twice – but his career at club level is stuttering and he needs a new challenge.

The versatile attacker has gone on loan to Sheffield United and managed just eight appearances while a spell at Oxford United produced one goal and five assists in 16 games, but Liverpool want him to try something new.

While Goal claim Hull are keen to lure Woodburn back to League One and boost Grant McCann’s bid for an instant return to the Championship, Liverpool want Woodburn to join top-tier Dutch side Sparta Rotterdam on a season-long loan.

TBR’s view – Which is Woodburn’s best move?

The Eredivisie is an intriguing league in which the top end of the division boast players that can go for huge sums of money – Donny van de Beek has joined Manchester United for a fee in the region of £35million.

But in the lower depths of the division, players are hardly Premier League standard. So, it gives the likes of Woodburn and other young stars the chance to shine against some top, top players – but also regain their confidence. Sparta is the best move.
