Report: Emi Martinez apologised to Everton star Mina after meeting this year
Emi Martinez felt compelled to write to Yerry Mina to apologise for what he said to the Everton star ahead of his penalty against Argentina in the semi-final of the Copa America, .
The Aston Villa man was a star of the show this summer. He played a key role in his country’s triumph.

And no moment saw Martinez shine more than the semi-final clash with Colombia that went to penalties.
The goalkeeper saved three spot-kicks, including one from Mina.
But what took place before the Everton man’s attempt has seemingly prompted Martinez to subsequently reach out and offer an apology.

, Martinez had plenty to say to Mina before he took his penalty.
Goalkeepers often seem to attempt to knock penalty takers off their stride with comments as they come up to put the ball down 12 yards out. So some may not have been particularly taken aback by Martinez’s antics.
However, it appears that Martinez may have felt that he crossed the line.
According to The Athletic, the goalkeeper reached out to Mina after the tournament to apologise. The report noted that there are no hard feelings between the pair with Mina accepting the apology.
Could Mina get some revenge on Martinez this weekend?
Of course, the incident is now significant because Everton travel to Villa Park to face Aston Villa this weekend.
Like Martinez and Mina, the two clubs had contrasting summers it seemed.
Villa sold their best player. But it did seem that they had ended up with a stronger squad, as they landed a number of impressive signings.
Everton meanwhile, barely spent anything on fees.
And yet, it is the Toffees who are amongst the early pace-setters. A couple of their new signings have also been immense so far.
So Mina may well be optimistic that he is about to exact a little revenge this time around.
