Report: Edu looking to offload Arsenal trio in order to fund £46m midfield move
Edu is looking to sell Bernd Leno, Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah – to fund an Arsenal move for Lille’s Renato Sanches.
Sanches, 24, remains on Arsenal’s shortlist after shining for Portugal at Euro 2020. He has reignited his faltering career with Ligue 1 outfit Lille.
Last season, the Portugal ace was crucial in helping Lille beat Paris Saint-Germain to the Ligue 1 title. This season, he has endured a frustrating time.
He has been injured for eight of Lille’s 14 league games, with a muscle problem. Lille have been poor, sitting way down the table in a lowly 12th.
The report from CM states that Arsenal want to save him from a nightmare season at Lille – and are ready to meet his £46million asking price.
But that only depends on whether Arsenal can sell Lacazette, Nketiah and Leno in January. All three are likely to leave soon, but as soon as January?

Can Arsenal shift Lacazette, Nketiah and Leno – ahead of Sanches swoop?
January represents the last chance for Arsenal to bring in some cash for the players that see their contracts expire in June. Nketiah, and Lacazette.
Leno is on big wages but is out of contract in 2023. So, Arsenal could still charge a decent fee for their Germany international – not for the other two.
Nketiah is likely to leave, but Arsenal would do well to get £10million for him. Lacazette has started the last two league games – and is still important.
Again, huge wages. Selling him for small-ish fee might actually be a detriment. But offloading the trio is hardly going to raise £46million.
Indeed, the Gunners would be lucky to get half of that for their three out-of-favour players in the coming weeks. Time will tell.
