Report: Double Tottenham boost ahead of Europa League clash

that Tottenham Hotspur and Jose Mourinho have received a double injury boost ahead of this week’s double header against Royal Antwerp and Brighton – with two players taking part in Wednesday training.

Spurs travel to Belgium on Thursday ahead of their second Europa League group game of the season, when they take on Antwerp – the city in which Toby Alderweireld was born in. They will be hoping to build on their 3-0 win over LASK.

Jose Mourinho’s side have gained plenty of plaudits for their form this season – after securing a place in the last eight of the Carabao Cup and winning all five European matches so far. They sit fifth in the Premier League.

But during their last two matches, Spurs have produced something they had not done previously. The north London club kept two clean sheets against LASK and Burnley, and there is even more good news to come from the Spurs camp.

Both Serge Aurier and £27million signing () Steven Bergwijn missed Monday night’s trip to Burnley due to minor knocks – but both players have trained on Wednesday ahead of the clash against Antwerp and could be included.

TBR’s view – Bergwijn needs game time to show quality

Aurier is already a well-established member of the Spurs side and has remained at the club despite the signing of Matt Doherty. Both are considered on a level playing field when it comes to fighting for the right-back slot.

But for Bergwijn, he has shown just glimpses of his quality at Spurs since the move from PSV Eindhoven. He needs as much game time as possible to show Mourinho why he should start – especially with Gareth Bale regaining fitness.
