Report details whether clause will be included in Matteo Guendouzi’s Arsenal loan exit

that Hertha Berlin will not have the option to turn Matteo Guendouzi’s loan spell with the Bundesliga club into a permanent move – as the Frenchman looks set to complete a season-long loan from Arsenal.

Guendouzi, 21, has endured a difficult few months at Arsenal. Mikel Arteta has shunned the young Frenchman from his side after multiple cases of poor behaviour and an incident that saw him confront Brighton striker Neal Maupay.

That 2-1 defeat to Brighton proved to be his last outing for Arsenal. He missed the Gunners’ last eight Premier League games of the 2019-20 campaign, and has failed to make the bench this term. Even Mo Elneny has climbed above in the pecking order.

Guendouzi is now set to sign for Hertha on loan, but the latest report states that a permanent clause will be left out of the loan. It means that Guendouzi could return to Arsenal, with two years remaining on his £40,000-a-week contract.

TBR’s view – Guendouzi loan deal makes complete sense

And so does excluding a permanent clause in the loan. Guendouzi could still have a future at Arsenal, with his quality on the pitch hardly in question. Indeed, it is the player’s attitude and temperament.

Should he go to Hertha, impress on the pitch and act well off of it, there is no reason why Arteta should not look to bring the former Lorient ace back into the fold at Arsenal. Good form at Hertha could also increase his resale value.
