Report details what Eddie Howe will do with Graeme Jones at Newcastle

Newcastle are reportedly set to hire Eddie Howe in the coming hours – and a report from what Howe will do with Graeme Jones.

Howe, 43, has been out of work since Bournemouth were relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

But reports earlier this week stated that Newcastle had narrowed down their choices to either Howe, or Unai Emery. Emery ruled himself out.

He did so with a public statement that has since been discussed as pretty damning on the Newcastle owners. Howe was the obvious, other choice.

While some have suggested he is a back-up, he is simply another option that the Newcastle board had identified. He is expected to sign a three-year deal.

Jones is expected to remain in interim charge against Brighton. But Howe could be in the stands – and a report shares what Howe will do with Jones.

“Jones is expected to stay on as assistant with Howe not thought to have any reservations about working with the ex- Luton boss.”

Howe stance on Jones: Does keeping him undermine Newcastle boss?

When Jones joined Newcastle, many fans predicted that the implementation of Jones would end up replacing Steve Bruce. That has rang true.

But with Howe, there is plenty of hype surrounding his appointment. It might not be the sparkly, shiny manager Toon fans might have hoped for.

However, right now, Howe is perfect. He will keep Newcastle up – given the experience of fighting a relegation battle in the Premier League.

Yes, Bournemouth were eventually relegated – but only after Howe kept them up the previous four seasons. Does keeping Jones undermine him?

No. What it does do, is give Howe another manager in his ranks – a tool he can rely on. It also saves Newcastle – if Howe does end up struggling.
