Report details update on Liverpool’s defender pursuit, Kabak, White and Upamecano considered
Liverpool will carefully assess whether to make a move in the January transfer window for a new defender, with the club having identified a number of targets.
The Reds have been linked all season with a move for a new defender after both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez were ruled out through injury.

However, claims that the club are carefully considering their options, with targets identified but having to meet a strict criteria before Liverpool make a move.
Among the names mentioned are Ozan Kabak and Dayot Upamecano, while £50m-rated Brighton defender Ben White is also another name said to be under consideration by the transfer team at Anfield.

But all three seem unlikely. Kabak is expected to move elsewhere, while the report claims Brighton and Leipzig will take some convincing to consider parting ways with either White or Upamecano.
One name not under consideration is Sven Botman, with the stating in the report he is not a player Liverpool want.
Sensible as always from Liverpool and why change? – TBR View
While the Reds have spent big sums on players in recent years you get the feeling every signing has been a well thoughtout purchase.
Alisson and Van Dijk have changed the entire XI and brought success, while Thiago was nailed on to be a success given his ability and experience at the very highest levels.
The Reds are being smart here. They’re still in the title race anyway so while a defender is needed, it’s also not imperative at this stage thanks to Fabinho’s impressive form.
