Report details ‘sensational twist’ as World Cup winner open to joining Newcastle until the end of the season
that Gennaro Gattuso is open to joining Newcastle until the end of the season – in a “sensational twist”.
Gattuso, 43, already has enormous experience in the world of management. He has taken charge of 287 games, winning 125 times in all competitions.
Managing in Greece, Switzerland and Italy – Gattuso has been in charge at Sion, Palermo, Crete, Pisa, AC Milan and most recently, Napoli.
The 2006 World Cup winner left Napoli in the summer, despite winning 46 of his 81 games. He almost joined Tottenham, only for a fan backlash.
He remains out of work and has been loosely linked with the Newcastle job. The Toon are looking for a gaffer, mutually deciding to remove Steve Bruce.
Lucien Favre, Paulo Fonseca and Eddie Howe have been linked. But Gattuso could now come in, given he is willing to sign a deal until the summer.
“A sensational twist; Gattuso could join Newcastle. He would also accept a fixed-term contract until the end of the season,”

Gattuso to Newcastle: Italian gaffer might be best solution right now
Newcastle will want a big-name manager, that can take them forward for the next few years, presumably into European football.
But would appointing a gaffer like Erik Ten Hag, Fonseca or Favre really provide them with the immediate safety through desperately crave?
Sitting in the bottom three, they need a fighter to at least remain safe until next summer. Gattuso might not be the long-term man they want.
But for right now, in a relegation scrap, Gattuso is ideal. His aggression, passion, tenacity and fight would prove crucial in keeping Newcastle up.
