Report: Crystal Palace now likely to beat Spurs to Joachim Andersen signing

Crystal Palace are set to beat Spurs to the signing of Joachim Andersen, according to reports this weekend from

Andersen had emerged as a target for Tottenham a few weeks ago, after the Dane impressed while on loan with Fulham last season.

He saw his stock rise further in the Euros as well. Andersen played a role in the Denmark team that did so well to reach the semi-finals, before being knocked out by England.

Andersen was said to be aware of Spurs’ interest, but a move to Crystal Palace now seems more likely, according to .

They state that The Eagles are now frontrunners to land Andersen, who they see as the ideal signing alongside fellow newboy, Marc Guehi.

Andersen made 31 appearances for Fulham last season. Despite the Cottagers being relegated, he was still seen as a shining light.

Palace, meanwhile, are trying to give Patrick Vieira a new set of players to build with. The former Arsenal man has taken over from Roy Hodgson, and is looking to get off to a flying start next season.

Great move for Palace, but Spurs have other irons in the fire

A few weeks back this would have seemed a bitter blow for Spurs and Fabio Paratici. But they have moved quickly to get other targets that now, it doesn’t seem to be as important.

Andersen is a class defender who is more than capable at his level. He’ll be great for Palace if they do sign him.

However, Spurs are close to signing Cristian Romero, and that should represent a decent enough upgrade on Andersen anyway.
