Report: Crystal Palace may still sign Jordan Ayew on a permanent deal

According to , Crystal Palace may still sign Jordan Ayew on a permanent deal this summer. The 27-year-old spent last season on loan at Selhurst Park. However, the attacker failed to impress and perform consistently during his stint with the Eagles. The Premier League club opted not to take up their permanent purchase option upon the expiry of his loan deal.

However, as per the aforementioned report, the south London outfit may now be prepared to reconsider their stance. Following Ayew’s fine performance in this summer’s African Cup of Nations, Crystal Palace’s interest in the forward has been revived. A deal with his parent club Swansea City worth £2.5 million is now apparently on the table.

The 52-cap international did impress for Ghana this summer. However, that shouldn’t be enough to prompt Roy Hodgson into changing his mind about the player. In 20 Premier League appearances last season, Ayew managed just one goal and two assists. He barely featured in the club’s starting XI in the second half of the campaign.

Crystal Palace should stick with their original decision and let Ayew go. To bring him back after such an underwhelming showing last season would demonstrate a lack of imagination and ambition.
