Report: Crystal Palace looking at possible Roy Hodgson replacements, two managers stand out
Crystal Palace have reportedly begun the process of identifying potential replacements for Roy Hodgson in case the Eagles manager leaves Selhurst Park, according to the .
Hodgson has been superb for Palace since taking over from Frank de Boer in September 2017.
The 73-year-old has established the Eagles in the Premier League, with 11th, 12th and 14th-placed finishes.
However, Hodgson is yet to sign fresh terms at Selhurst Park with his contract due to expire at the end of the season.
According to the , Hodgson’s departure from Palace this summer is not a foregone conclusion.
Indeed, there is a “feeling among certain figures” that extending Hodgson’s contract represents the club’s best option for next season.
It is also understood that Hodgson would consider an extension, but will not “plead” for one.
That said, Palace have reportedly started the process of identifying targets in the event of Hodgson leaving.
Two coaches are said to have admirers in the Palace boardroom – former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe, and Burnley boss Sean Dyche.

It’s a tricky situation for Palace at present – although the Eagles are reportedly after a younger coach as part of a long-term plan, budgetary constraints mean that it would be a big risk.
Hodgson, meanwhile, has done well at Selhurst Park and would certainly be a safer option – which is a good thing in the current climate.
That said, Howe is proven at Premier League level and would also not cost Palace much, unlike Dyche, whose club would likely demand a huge compensation fee.
