Report: Crystal Palace eye move for Swansea boss Steve Cooper

Crystal Palace are eyeing a move to make Swansea City boss Steve Cooper their new manager,

The 41-year-old has taken well to his first managerial position in men’s football, leading Swansea to the play-offs last season.

His team are firmly in the mix for automatic promotion this time around and are playing some superb football.

Questions are starting to be asked of Roy Hodgson with the Eagles losing 3-0 to Burnley yesterday.

The Eagles are 13th in the Premier League table and it’s firmly a case of one step forwards, two steps back at the moment.

Hodgson’s deal comes to an end in the summer and Palace are starting to compile a list of names.

Cooper is one of those on the shortlist with the Swansea boss seeing his stock rise in the men’s game.

The Swans incumbent led England under-17s to World Cup glory and his ability to get the best out of young players makes him attractive.

Palace have stagnated somewhat as a Premier League club and the hierarchy will hope a new manager can progress them.

TBR View: Cooper looks ideal for Palace

It’s fair to say the Eagles fan base is growing tired of Hodgson’s management and younger blood could be required.

Cooper would be a change of approach by Palace but one that ultimately could provide an injection of positivity into the club.

At Swansea, he has got the very best out of his younger players and also got his team playing some beautiful football.

His style might take some time to get across to the players and with that in mind, giving him a full period of pre-season would make perfect sense.

Palace are stuck in a big of a rut and Cooper could be just the man to get them out of it.
