Report: Crystal Palace edge ahead in race to sign Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster

Crystal Palace are thought to be ahead of the chasing pack in the race to sign Liverpool striker, Rhian Brewster.

According to a fresh report from the , the Eagles have moved ahead of the likes of Sheffield United and West Brom in the hunt for Brewster, with a £20m deal said to be being close to completion.

However, despite Palace being said to be willing to stump up the cash for Brewster, there remains details to iron out with officials at Liverpool if a deal is to get over the line.

The claims the Reds are looking for Palace to include both a buy-back clause and a sell-on clause in the deal, a move which Palace are said to be tentative to agree to.

Furthermore, the Eagles have landed Michy Batshuayi on a loan deal and have Jordan Ayew as a regular starter down the middle. In addition to that, they’ve also got off to a flying start to the PL season, with two wins from two.

Brewster scored 11 goals during a fruitful spell with Swansea last season. Despite Jurgen Klopp being a fan, game-time is going to be a struggle for Brewster and the Reds may also have to sell to fund their recent moves for Thiago and Diogo Jota.

And that could be something that influences Brewster’s final decision. With Ayew and Batshuayi set to be ahead of him anyway, there’s a chance he finds himself in the same boat as he does at Liverpool.

Sheffield United apparently remain an option for the youngster and he would play there. However, he may see Palace as an attractive proposition, especially given their start.

This is one that will probably wind up being sorted this week but whether Brewster ends up a Palace player or not, remains to be seen.
