Report: Conte looking to sign South American for Tottenham, was in talks to have him at Inter
that Antonio Conte want Nahitan Nandez to Tottenham in January – having almost lured him to Inter Milan from Cagliari.
Nandez, 25, has earned rave reviews for his performances at Cagliari – and for Uruguay. He was good for Uruguay at the Copa America last summer.
Naturally a midfielder, Nandez is also more than capable as a right wing-back – which he does for Uruguay. Nandez has been at Cagliari since 2019.
Clocking up 84 outings for Cagliari, the ex-Boca Juniors has been regularly linked with a move to the Premier League. Leeds and West Ham, too.
states that Nandez has a release clause in his contract worth £30million – with Inter and Napoli said to be keen.
Last summer, before leaving Inter, Conte is said to have opened talks with Cagliari – and now it is said he wants Nandez in North London.

Nandez to Tottenham: Uruguayan is a perfect Conte midfielder
With Conte using a 3-4-3 system, the Italian needs two defensive-minded, hard-working midfielders to protect the back four.
That is, especially coming up against teams with a three-man midfield. So, they need players with incredible stamina, technically good, grafters.
They have that somewhat in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Oliver Skipp is a grafter, but he lacks the technical ability and leadership of Hojbjerg.
Nandez is perfect. He is nasty, a little terrier in midfield that can also score or lay on an assist at times. He is only 5ft 5in, but his stamina is incredible.
At £30million, Conte would be bringing in the ideal midfielder for his system in Cagliari and Uruguay star Nandez in January.
